The Illinois Association of REALTORS® has joined the Rockford Area Association of REALTORS® in the effort to bring Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to Rockford.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is a leading aviation and aerospace university with residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona. The university is searching for a site to build its third residential campus for 1,000 students. Rockford and Houston, Texas are the two finalist cities being considered.
At a news conference in Rockford Wednesday, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) endorsed efforts to bring Embry-Riddle to Illinois.
IAR President Sheryl Grider Whitehurst’s statement:
“On behalf of 47,000 REALTORS® across Illinois, we are pleased to join Rockford Area REALTORS® in an effort to bring the third campus for Embry-Riddle to Rockford. At IAR we are acutely aware of the importance of jobs to the overall economy of Illinois.
Illinois is the 5th largest economic engine in the United States, and we need to continue to support efforts to ensure that we do not lose that ranking. Embry-Riddle not only provides important jobs but is a strategic fit for all of our aerospace companies in Rockford and the Chicagoland area.
One of the main initiatives of IAR is our advocacy program in which we work to assure property rights and other rights of homeowners. A perfect match for our advocacy work is to partner with the Rockford Area REALTORS® to help the association promote Rockford as the right landing spot for Embry-Riddle.
Today, in conjunction with Rockford Area REALTORS®, we are proud to announce a joint $25,000 financial award to be used for promoting this new business campaign.
These funds will be used to promote the area’s vast aerospace resources and capabilities and communicate the huge public and private outpouring of support for this world-class university to locate in Rockford.
Our REALTORS® in Rockford and the surrounding area are energized and eager to be a resource for the community at large and for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. We look forward to this new business initiative becoming a reality and stand ready to provide assistance to Embry-Riddle now and long into the future.”
