“Walkable” neighborhoods appeal to today’s homebuyers

The more “walkable” the neighborhood, the more appealing it is to today’s discriminating homebuyers and, in turn, increases resale values, according to a survey by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).

What boosts an area’s walkability or “walk score?” It’s a neighborhood where people can easily walk to stores, restaurants, parks and other amenities. NAR’s 2011 Consumer Preference Survey found that consumers rank walkability high on their home wish lists. Read more.
