Keep calm and renew on

Managing Broker License Renewal season draws to a close today.  If you have not yet submitted your renewal application, we highly recommend that you do not wait until the last minute, particularly if submitting it online. A high volume of traffic to the website by people trying to beat the deadline could slow down or disable online renewal, causing you to be penalized for missing the deadline.

If you have already submitted your renewal application but have not yet received your new license from IDFPR, you will be able to practice as long as you kept appropriate documentation:printed evidence that you completed the required CE hours, submitted your renewal application and paid the renewal fee (postal receipts, cancelled check, confirmation page from your online renewal). This documentation will serve as proof of renewal until your information has been updated in the IDFPR website and you receive your license.

If you miss the deadline, you will be unable to practice until your renewal is complete. Your license will remain in non-renewed status until your continuing education hours are complete and you have submitted your renewal application to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and paid applicable penalty fees.  Visit the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) website and the IAR REALTOR® Store to find the state-approved real estate continuing education courses you need to complete your license renewal.

If you have questions, feel free to contact IAR’s Education Center at 1-800-523-5077.
