Vote for the official hashtag for IAR’s 100 Year Anniversary

In 2016 we begin a yearlong celebration of the Illinois Association of REALTORS® centennial milestone. Many events are planned including the April 26 Lobby Day & Anniversary Reception. Mark your calendar!

And please vote for our “official” anniversary year hashtag.

Members of the IAR 100th Anniversary Task Force, chaired by Pam Krieter of the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®, have narrowed choices down to a top-5 list. You can also suggest your own.

Voting ends at noon on Oct. 6 when we’ll reveal the anniversary logo and official hashtag at Inaugural festivities for our incoming 2016 IAR President Mike Drews of Aurora.

IAR Fun Fact:

Why did REALTORS® at the time decide to form a statewide association?

Answer:

Some of the main reasons:

  • A growing concern over rising property taxes
  • Adoption of a tax amendment in Illinois
  • Enforcement of the Code of Ethics
  • Promotion of good roads
  • Desire to create a license law
  • Securing legislation requiring an exam for those entering the real estate professional and payment of a fee
