CANNES, France — One of the things you learn at MIPIM is that you never know who will stop by your booth in the Palais des Festivals  in Cannes, France.

Illinois’ REALTOR® delegation takes turns working at the booth on the floor of the convention center. During the day members met with developers and elected officials interested in real estate development and investment.

“You do make meaningful connections here,” said IAR Immediate Past President Jim Kinney. “I’ve talked to a number of people who are making decisions about where to invest. It’s critical that those stopping by, who may not be familiar with the state, learn about what REALTORS® can do for them.”

IAR’s has nearly a dozen people in its contingent at MIPIM, which is billed as one of the largest real estate conferences in the world. It’s an annual meeting where investors — often with substantial amounts of money — meet to exchange ideas and make connections.

IAR is in its second year of a three-year commitment to attend MIPIM. The association’s delegation has grown each year.
