Freeport REALTOR® Tim Davenport and his friends stepped up production for a local charity this year and enjoyed themselves in the process.

After several years of making donations to Big Brothers Big sisters of Northwestern Illinois, the REALTOR® Association of Northwestern Illinois (RANWIL) formed two teams for the 2016 Bowl for Kids’ Sake tournament and raised a total of $1,225.

“One of my good friends works for the hospital here in Freeport sponsors the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program in Northwestern Illinois,” Davenport says. “The bank my wife works for in Freeport is also a major sponsor of the Bowl for Kids’ Sake tournament every year. I had asked our board of directors to make a contribution to support the tournament three years ago, but last year several members decided they wanted to participate and actually bowl. So support is growing among our membership, it’s a great event and we enjoy the fellowship with other REALTORS® from our area. ”

Davenport, a broker for Christensen Home Town Realtors in Freeport, says he and his colleagues also won a spirit award at the 2016 bowling event.

He says his growth as a person, a professional and as a community member has been enhanced by the many different roles he’s played for the local association. “I started on committees about three years after I became a REALTOR® (2000). I am about finished with my term as board president and I have gone through the chairs. I’m planning on finishing the six-year term on the board of directors. I learned a lot on the board that I passed on to members in our office and to many other friends I have in this business.”

Davenport says he’s always tried to help people in need. In addition to his service for Big Brothers Big Sisters, he’s a Freeport Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, encouraging new business owners and advising them of available support programs.
