Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, so remember any clocks that require manual adjustment should be moved forward an hour before you go to sleep Saturday night.

According to federal law, Daylight Savings Time begins the second Sunday in March and lasts until the first Sunday in November.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal suggests that homeowners test their smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries twice a year. So unless you have smoke detectors with lithium ion batteries designed to last 10 years, the beginning and end of Daylight Saving Time are popular times to replace batteries.
