Some corporations and LLCs still need to reinstate non-renewed real estate licenses

Bigstock Image

Almost four months after the Illinois REALTORS® and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) reported 1,400 corporate real estate licenses hadn’t been renewed on time, the association continues to get queries about the subject.

Managing brokers who didn’t renew their entity licenses on Oct. 31, 2016 can download the reinstatement form and send it to IDFPR as quickly as possible, return receipt requested. This form can’t be completed or submitted online.

Any brokerage operating under a non-renewed entity license can be subjecting itself to certain serious consequences.

Illinois REALTORS® suspects that the Department’s change from mailing renewal notifications to electronic means may be the reason managing brokers missed the deadline.

Other questions?

The IDFPR’s address is: Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Real Estate, 320 West Washington St., Springfield, IL 62786.

REALTORS® with licensing questions can call Real Estate Licensing at 800/560-6420.

How to print your real estate license renewal

REALTORS® may access a digital, printable copy of their license online on the IDFPR website. In order to access your license renewal form and print your license, go to this webpage and enter your license number and either your pin number or your social security number and date of birth. If you have recently renewed your license and did not receive an email notification with instructions on how to print your license, you will need to contact IDFPR to update your address information. You may update your address online here or call 800-560-6420. Additional questions or concerns about your license status may be sent via email to FPR.LMU.illinois.gov.

REALTORS® should keep records of their CE, their online renewal confirmation and payment in the case of an audit. Primary source verification and evidence you are licensed can be obtained free of charge by visiting the IDFPR online License Lookup database at https://ilesonline.idfpr.illinois.gov/DPR/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx.
