ROTYs from Skokie, Peoria and Quad City areas honored at June 6 banquet, too

Among the 24 local REALTORS® who’ll be honored at the 36th Annual REALTOR® of the Year Banquet will be Rebekah Carlson, Michelle Largent and Regen Johnson.

The event will attract members from all over the state to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield on June 6. The guest of honor will be Illinois REALTOR® of the Year Sue Miller, managing broker for Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group, in McHenry. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. The deadline for ordering tickets is May 30. Tickets are $75 each.

Here are some details about the three local winners mentioned above:

Rebekah Carlson of Next Realty, LLC in Skokie will represent the Northern Illinois Commercial Association of REALTORS® (NICAR). Carlson is the NICAR secretary and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. She’s a founding member for Save-A-Pet’s Real Estate to the Rescue Golf Outing, which raised $30,000 for a no-kill shelter in 2016.

Michelle Largent of RE/MAX Traders Unlimited in Peoria is the ROTY for the Peoria Area Association of REALTORS®. A past member of the Peoria Area’s board of directors, she’s also worked on many committees and volunteered for the Germantown Hills Village Board and Girl Scouts. An RPAC Major Investor, she supports the South Side Mission and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Regen Johnson of Ruhl & Ruhl REALTORS® in Davenport, Iowa will represent the Quad City Area REALTOR® Association. She has served on numerous committees for the local association. She’s a member of the board of directors and the 2017 secretary/treasurer. In the community, she volunteers with the Junior League, Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement and local schools. She also serves as a mentor to new agents.

Susan Gant of RE/MAX Executives Plus in Decatur will represent the Decatur Association of REALTORS®. Gant served as chair of the Macon Country Republican Women and a number of Decatur Association of REALTORS® committees. She serves on the Macon County Republican Central Committee and on the Decatur Association Board of Directors.

Ayn Bartok of All In One Real Estate Company in Harrisburg is from the Egyptian Board of REALTORS®. The former Egyptian president devoted herself to a variety of local and state REALTOR® committees and served as a state legislative contact. Along with being an RPAC Major Investor, she is an avid RPAC supporter.

Sharon Pratt of RE/MAX River Bend in Alton represents the Greater Gateway Association of REALTORS®. The managing broker/co-owner of RE/MAX River Bend recently received the 2016 YWCA Woman of Distinction Award. She serves on the Greater Gateway Board of Directors. She is very active in her community and church.

Alex Ruggieri of Sperry Van Ness Ramshaw Real Estate, Champaign is being honored by the Champaign County Association of REALTORS®. A Champaign County member since 1977, he has earned GRI, CCIM, CIPS, CRE, EMS, SEC and NCE designations. A commercial broker and media personality, he works on state and NAR committees and serves on his local association’s board of directors.

Hugh Rider of Realty & Mortgage County, Chicago will represent the Chicago Association of REALTORS®. The NAR Hall of Fame member and NAR director has focused on public policy issues, including Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance (RLTO) reform. He’s served as CAR president and chair of its Property Management and Public Policy Coordinating committees.

Martin Lipa of Priority One, Belgium is the ROTY for the Danville Area Board of REALTORS®. Lipa opened own business in 2004, became a Danville Area director in 2009 and president in 2015 and 2016. He supports AMBUCS, Habitat for Humanity, the Veterans Memorial, the Police Benevolent Association’s kids camp and holiday food banks.

He’s served as a member of REALTOR® Land Institute, a state committee member and for many years on several local committees. He holds Certified Agent Real Estate Investor (CARI) and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designations.

Michael Oldenettel of RE/MAX Professionals, Springfield will represent the Capital Area REALTORS®. He is an RPAC Hall of Famer, has served as Illinois REALTORS® 2013 president and Jacksonville Area Association of REALTORS® president. He serves as a Capital Area and NAR director and on local, state and national committees.

Mac Boyd of Farmers National Company, Arcola, is ROTY for the Central Illinois Board of REALTORS®. Boyd, who died last December, was an RPAC Hall of Famer, three-time chair of Illinois REALTORS® Political Fundraising Committee, member of the association’s board of directors and chair of the Professional Standards Committee. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of Illinois farmland.
